The privacy in the life of people places a very important role. For a long period of time autonomy of individual has been under attack. This topic has been discussed and investigated deeply taking into consideration different fields of the peoples’ interactions. The investigations took place on the basis of the data collected and studied thoroughly. A lot of theories were based on the unity between the individual and the society. It meant that people, being a part of the big corporation are like the ambassadors. And have to bring this honor title during their life all the day long, independently, are hey at work or at home, at the business trip or vocation.

The workplace privacy is a very argumentative issue. It has pros and cons, supporters and opponents. Nowadays it is very acute because of the definite factors: the companies want to possess their employers 24 hours per day. The reason is obvious – being a part of the company the worker should present it not only in the working hours, but being out of the work. However, surveillance in the workplace created the concerns in the area of privacy, and nowadays it has grown because of the increased use of technology.

There is the tale of Ms Ashley who was fired because of the information placed at her personal account. In 2010, a 22-year-old waitress was fired from her place of work, the restaurant, because of the comment on her personal page. One day, being at work, she served a company of people who were occupying the table for 3 hours. They left only 5$ tips. She was annoyed and upset, and has written the following comment on her personal page: “Thanks for eating at BRIXX, you cheap piece of*** camper”. Her account was available only for her close friends; no one from the restaurant could see the comment on her page. Nobody knows what third party has informed the bosses of Ms.Johnson about that information, but she was fired. It was not permitted for the workers of that company to judge the clients. She was the ambassador of the company.

The privacy in the workplace is important for both – the employers and employees. Nowadays, mostly every worker has the Internet access at the workplace. This reduces the costs of the negotiations, increases efficiency in almost all the tasks, allows for geographic expansion on the one hand; however, it leads to the damage of the privacy of the company.

While writing the e-mail the employee is sure that there exist only two people who are reading it – the addressor and the addressee. Email communications have a long life. Before an email even arrives in one’s inbox, the capacity for it to be intercepted is vast. And even after an email appears to have been deleted by the recipient, it can usually be retrieved from a number of locations, including the network, local hard drives, and backups.
