First, Make Money. Also, Do Good by Steve Lohr (2011) is an article which deals with corporate social responsibility, which was posted on the 13, August, 2011, in The New York Times.com. The author of the article reviews works of various businessmen which were performed in various periods of time, and comes to conclusion, that moneymaking is not of greater importance than making good, if to view them from the perspective of modern corporate social responsibility.

Analyzing experience of many business consultants, Lohr suggests that creation of shared value is “an elaboration of the notion of corporate self-interest – greed.” It is not a secret that companies can do good, however, not all of them make much effort, which is really important for further development of the company through development of its corporate social responsibility.

As stated in the article, the concept of sharing values is not simply a moral stance, but it is about “galvanizing companies to exploit the market in addressing social problems.” In order to illustrate this statement and make it more credible, the author of the article draws examples of companies which used various strategies to fit the model of sharing values; the article also specifies results of such actions. It is important to pay attention to the fact that low cost mobile phone connection and internet connection give companies more opportunities to implement such models and promote development of the companies and their corporate social responsibility (Lohr, 2011).

It is possible to conclude that development of corporate social responsibility is an integral part of development of every company; nowadays it is very difficult for every company to meet conditions of the market and remain competitive if shared-value model is not implemented. Thus, helping society to solve its problems should be promoted in order to increase corporate social responsibility.
