There are five criteria for evaluating websites critically. They are: 1) Accuracy of Web Documents 2) Authority of Web Documents 3) Objectivity of Web Documents 4) Currency of Web Documents 5) Coverage of the Web Documents (Olin and Uris Libraries, olinuris.library.cornell.edu). The website to be critically evaluated using these criteria will be the official website of Major League Baseball HYPERLINK "http://mlb.mlb.com" http://mlb.mlb.com

It could be claimed that this website has accuracy, since it provides a lot of ways to enquire of the company information by contacting MLB Advanced Media, L.P. directly through the website using such links as MLB Customer Support, MLB.com Account Information, MLB.com Billing Information and a number of different FAQ’s.

The website is authoritative, since the website is presented as the official website of the Major League Baseball, and thus, carries the authority of the well-known organization whose contact data are listed on the website and could be easily verified. The domain .com is not suspicious and could be the usual choice for this sort of website of a sports organizations such as, for example, nhl.com or nba.com. The articles contain the name of the author and below them there is an opportunity to leave a post that the author could consider.

The website has a certain level of objectivity, since it both presents the objective facts as well as opinions of article writers, or, in other words, their interpretation of those facts. The advertising is limited and one surely cannot say that the main purpose of the website is making money on advertising space.

The website presents up-to-date information and tries to produce feedback to all major events in the world of American baseball. Thus, it is current.

Finally, it has a good coverage in terms of that there are no obstacles to view the pages or obtain information from it – it is free, opens perfectly in all main web browsers and does not need a high-capacity computer to open its pages.

Overall, I could suggest that mlb.com is a high-quality website and a treasure for all those who love baseball and want to keep pace with the events in that kind of sport.
