Abstract

This movie is about the illegal immigrants in the United States of America. The movie depicts how each and every day more and more migrants cross over the border into America. With security tightening up in California and Texas, the only way in left for the illegal immigrants is through the Arizona desert. Most of them come from Mexico and Latin America. All come into America seeking a better life for themselves and their families back at home.

List the many perspectives the movie illustrates

The movie also depicts how family is important as with time more women and children cross the border in seeking to re-unite with their husband and fathers respectively.

The movie also depicts the rising death toll of many immigrants coming into the country. This has raised issues on human rights, culture and national security. The movie seeks better treatment for the immigrants as their only misdeed is crossing the border illegally.

The movie also shows complaints from the residents of Arizona who are up in arms complaining of cut fences and trash that they have to pick up each and every day. This trash poses a health threat to their animals. The residents also fear for their own security when immigrants pass through their land.

The movie also depicts the Minutemen. These are the armed citizen patrol groups that have taken matters into their own hands to evacuate the illegal immigrants. Farmers who depend on their cheap labor fear losing them in a patrol sweep. Thus, ‘Crossing Arizona’ is a clear indication of the failed border and immigration policies (Archibold, 2010).

Which perspective resonates with you? Why?

The family perspective and its importance as it is a sensitive issue. Without our families, many of us would have not been the people we are today. According to many psychologists, family love is like daily bread that each and every one yearns for. We need our family around especially when we are in tough environments like in the case of immigrants.
