Racism denotes a set of prejudices, based on the belief that people of one certain race are smarter, stronger, more talented, simply better. Racism has been there for a long time and it still remains an important issue even nowadays. The very base of racism is xenophobia – the fear of people who are in any way different than us, and the saddest thing is that it is mostly children who are affected by it – they have not yet developed the sense of wrong and right, therefore they can be easily influenced by the prejudices of their family, friends, classmates. It can be black or white, active, represented in the form of an obvious offense, or passive, unspoken, which can be seen in the innocent eyes of children. It’s universal and it still exists even in such melting pots, as America, where the boundaries between nations and biases of races are supposed to have vanished. It comes in all shapes, sizes, political persuasions and exists on different levels.

And black women are more likely to be degraded by men than white women because black women are seen as sexual beings and white women are taught to repress their sexual fantasies. Racism, in fact, is a product of one’s lack of education, intolerance and narrow-mindedness. It has been discussed for years, the psychologists and scholars have been looking for the reasons of its development and trying to provide us with the evidence that racism in itself is completely wrong. The Bible states that there is just one race – the human race – “For God shows no partiality” ( Romans 2:11), “For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes” (Deuteronomy 10:17), “And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him” (Ephesians 6:9). If the Church (people) fails to address the issue of racism, the …
