Non commissioned officers (NCO) are the backbone of the US army. NCO is given authority through a commissioned officer. Most corporals and sergeants in the military are NCO. In the NCO handbook the corpora is at the top of the list followed by sergeant and the last rank id the musket of cleaning. The corporal position requires a long period of service to attain it. The corporal does duties such as reporting discipline cases to the first sergeant, being an example to others in form of service and neatness. He is also in charge of a small group of soldiers. The last rank on the list is the musket home cleaning, it involves of cleaning of guns and maintaining them so that they remain in perfect condition. They play significant roles in the day to day activities in the military. They act as the intermediaries between the commissioned officers and the regular members of the forces. For instance if issues arise they inform the commissioned superiors about them. They also assist in the administrative tasks in the military. NCOs look out for the military, they advice them and guide them through the army process.

Some of their duties include maintaining discipline in the forces. They make sure that the soldiers are on the right track and doing what they are supposed to do. They coach, teach and mentor the soldiers. Each NCO officer is assigned to a number of officers who he will be in charge of. The second duty of the NCO is training. They impart the enlisted members with all the skill they require. Such skills can be weaponry and physical fitness. The NCO members are assigned to different military occupations just like any other members of the forces. However, there jobs are to supervise the other members. In the military, the members do jobs such as air traffic control, automotive engineering and so forth. It is the job of the NCO to oversee it. The NCOs work whether the military officers are on duty in the camps, field or in battle. Being in the NCO calls for patience and dedication, because they serve the members of the forces more than they even serve themselves.

Non commissioned officers are involved in various inspections. Inspection is a common thing in the military. An inspection is defined as is a serious appraisal of something. The inspections are carried out to make sure that things are going on well. There are different kinds of inspection carried out by the NCO. The importance of the inspection is that it ensures the normality of operations because all things will be functional. They are considered management inspection because they help put things in order. If inspections are not done, there will be laxity among the members of the forces.
