Today is a really great day, it is a day of those, who defend their principles and the principles of the USA, who hasn’t spare themselves and their enemies for the honour of our country, whose fidelity is doubtless, it is a day of those who afforded the honour of being a Veteran. It’s a day when you are to be proud of yourself.

There are many veterans of different rank and age, who were the veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and others, but you are united by your courage, your strong patriotism and your self-sacrifice.

There is no matter where and when you have become heroes – all of you are the pride of the nation. There is no matter in what corps have you served all of you have brought an invaluable contribution in the establishment of our country on the international arena. All of you are heroes only because you have survived and gone through all those nightmares of war. And there is no matter what colour of the skin you have, because all of you are painted into Stars and Stripes. And above all is that the American flag should be the colour of your soul.

What do you feel when you are looking back to those times when you served your country far from home? Average man who hasn’t been through the mill, like you have, cannot imagine what a sacrifice you have made. Some of you may be were wounded or even invalided. “In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.”(Jose Narosky). You gave everything to this country: your health, your youth and your spirit; because the war can change a human not only from the outside, but also on the inside. There is a popular expression about young men with eyes of old men; it is because these eyes have seen things that can make older anybody.

Life is short, so every year ‘your’ war is slowly going down in history. Unfortunately, every year we lose our dear veterans, who were the witnesses of those events and who have first-hand knowledge of what the war is. Over the years our descendants will learn about all these wars at school. I know all of you would be glad, that it would be the only way they could know something about war. We just may hope that they would never repeat the mistakes of their ancestors.

Americans are demonstrating their courage and determination for almost 240 years, since War of Independence. It was one of the many tests we had to pass. Then the history of proud and brave American nation has begun.

We showed our military might and our ability to defend our citizens, when we entered World War One. We proved that nobody can kill our citizens without any punishment. We entered this war and promoted the crushing defeat of Germany. This war has showed that the USA is more powerful than European countries which could do …
