For as long as civilization has existed there has been a question of crime and punishment, which should discourage people committing crime. The history has seen some extreme measures, for instance cutting off hands for thieves, and vice versa it has seen some lenient measures being taken, like a few hours of social works nowadays. Despite having all that historical experience no one can definitely answer whether death penalty should exist.

First of all, it is important to keep in mind that death penalty should be a punishment for only violent crimes such as murder and rape, which hurt people and show a great violence on the behalf of the criminal. As far as these crimes either lead to the death of a person or to making them psychologically inferior and vulnerable, death penalty should be a possible option for the judge and the jury as a sentence. Furthermore, these crimes mentally hurt not only one person, but also their family, relatives and close people, thus a person commits crime that affects a big number of people. Furthermore, these are socially violent crimes that can cause a great danger and anxiety in society and thus it is important to punish people who cause some disturbances and thus worry the whole population of the country.

It is clear that death penalty is definitely more beneficial for the state and for the tax payers of the country. As far as person who is sentenced to life sentence should be kept up in prison for all their life, hence a lot of money from government budget will be spent yearly on their food and on their sustaining in the prison. Furthermore, if there are a lot of people on death sentence it can be a huge impact on the governmental money. Moreover, if there are a lot of people in prison it is vital to keep in mind that there are a limited number of places. Judging from the main function of the prison, which is to re-educate criminals, sentencing people with strong violent tendencies to life sentence will not change anything. First of all, even if they change they will never return to the society to show that, secondly, it has been shown by practice that mostly these people cannot change their tendencies to kill or hurt people. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind that criminals committing rape and murders do not need to go prison as far as they will not have a need to change their behavior.

On the whole, there are a lot of reasons to support death penalty. First of all these criminals have already committed violent crimes that threaten the whole society. Furthermore, they would demand a lot of money from tax payers to support them for all their lives. Moreover, prison should be as means of re-educating, but such violent criminals do not usually change, and even if they change after life sentence they will not go back to society anyway.
