Abstract

There is a big difference in how men and women operate. Men are known to be free and easy with things provided their needs or desires are met. It is from this that it is depicted that men strive to satisfy their needs and desires and if they find something to accomplish that, then it is well with them; they are not choosy. Unlike men, women are the exact opposite as they like things in details or rather specific. They cannot just go for something just because it can satisfy their wants or desires. If they have a want or desire then there is a specific way of satisfying it for instance in the case of being more detailed in drink selection at Starbucks Coffee.

While choosing what to drink, women as mentioned thereon earlier are specific and thus they cannot just opt for anything. In choosing drinks, they have their preferences; there are those that prefer white to black coffee, or hot chocolate. This is unlike men who just opt for whatever their mind is telling them; if today they want white coffee then they drink that. Women have a certain type of sensitivity and belief that if they choose a drink that they do not like, then something will probably go wrong (Barthes 2005). This is partly psychological as it is social, following from influence from friends. This usually happens when a group of women order the same drink and if there is one who has not ordered yet, she will most probably order the same drink. This will now be her drink wherever she goes to Starbucks Coffee or any other place to have a drink.
