The current research paper contains a SHELL model analysis of interaction between human factor and Samsung televisions. SHELL model consists of the following components: hardware, software, environment, and liveware. The hardware and software parts of Samsung televisions are represented by special technological features, such as screen dimensions and resolution, quality of image, sound, control modes, access to the Internet, and so on. Different models of Samsung televisions have different characteristics, but in general their interaction with human factor is quite successful. The environmental impact of interaction between humans and televisions is examined and proven to be rather negative. Human capabilities and limitations affect the interaction with a technological system both positively and negatively. The analysis is made with a purpose to find out what factors determine the successful interaction between the given technological system and human factor. SHELL Model Analysis of Samsung Televisions

SHELL model is a conceptualization of interactions between humans and components of some technological environment. It provides a ground for analysis of factors, which affect human existence within some system, among which human factor itself occupies the central place. The abbreviation stands for the names of the components of the system: software, hardware, environment, and liveware, which need to be shaped in order to adapt to human characteristics (Hawkins, 1994). This model was invented by Edwards in 1972 and was shaped into its modern look by Hawkins in 1984. It was initially implemented in aviation, but it can be used to analyze different environments in which people interact with technology. In the current paper we are going to apply the SHELL model to Samsung televisions in order to understand how the components of this piece of technology interact with the human factor.

Television production is one of the core fields of activity of Samsung Electronics. These televisions are very popular all over the world due to their high quality, technological advancement, and stylish design. The product range of Samsung televisions is rather wide and includes three major groups: light-emitting diode (LED) televisions, liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions, and plasma display panels (PDP). Prices are also different; they depend on size of a screen, resolution, technology used, and available functions. Liquid crystals technology allows the producers, including Samsung, make televisions very thin. The LED-televisions are basically LCDs, backlit by light-emitting diodes, which make the colors deeper and more saturated. Plasmas are characterized by deeper colors, richer contrast, grater viewing angle, faster processing, and bigger screens. All the technological advancements which Samsung uses for its products are aimed at providing the best viewing experience to consumers with constantly growing demands by making its televisions the ultimate source of home entertainment.

Hardware

Due to special technology used for image generation, all the today’s Samsung televisions are rather thin. Some of them are so thin and light they can be easily wall-mounted in order to provide cinema-like experience to viewers. The main features of Samsung televisions make them comfortable for users. They come in different sizes, so that they can fit into …
