The article under analysis is full of deep psychological ideas that make the paper scientifically acknowledged. The purpose of the research paper was to support or refute the hypothesis that ‘winners love winning and losers love money’ (Kassam, 2011). There were two experiments conducted, the purpose of which was to define the attitude of winners towards their satisfaction with the money won and the attitude of losers towards the satisfaction with the money presented as a prize. As a matter of fact, the fact that winners are inclined to think positively, while losers are inclined to think in a negative way pushed to formulate the above mentioned hypothesis of the paper. Experimental design consisted of statistical data. The method of a natural experiment was applied, as the experimentalist created special conditions for conducting a research. The participants of the experiment were asked to complete several activities, the results of which were estimated with the help of different formulae. Statistical results were shown with the help of the tables built. The results of the research paper are rather controversial. As there were two experiments, let us first focus our attention on the results of the first experiment. The results of the first experiment showed that winners started thinking positively when they thought about losers, because they felt their priority over them and thus felt satisfied. Winners were very sensitive to relative values. Losers were, however, not self-confident and got very little satisfaction when they thought about winning, because they felt that they did not have enough strength and power to win. Losers developed sensitivity to both absolute and relative types of values. The results of the second experiment showed that losers can accept absolute values at a high level only in case they have something to compare their results with. The comparison shows that they can do something better than others and, as a result, it brings them moral satisfaction. The research paper serves as a solid background for further scientific research. ReferencesKassam, K. S., Morewedge, C. K., Gilbert, D. T., ‘et.al.’ (2011).
