Introduction

Getting a chance to study in a university in the United States is one of the greatest opportunities I have had in my life time. Studying in another country means a lot to me. It means being exposed to a new environment, new people whose cultural and social backgrounds are totally different from mine. On a much bigger scope the way of living of people in the United States is totally different from the way people live in my country. I am proud of my background very much. in this case I find that it is of great importance that during my study in the united states I ensure that I fully represent my country , my family and I.

My lifestyle in the university is one of the factors that will greatly determine how I will represent my country, family and I. lifestyle includes the mode of dressing, the kind of food I eat and the way I uniquely interact with people in the new environment reflecting the culture in my own country. Wearing national attire will show which country I come from and that I am proud of it. In regard to the food I eat my friends will get the opportunity to enjoy traditional meals from my culture once I prepare them (Williamson and Wendy 2008, p.208). On the same note I will be exposed to other people’s culture and the kind of meat of food they eat. Having meals with friends will be a good way of showing what we do back at home with my family. That is sharing and enjoying meals together as a family discussing issues and making jokes.

Additionally, I love singing. During festivals at the university I will ensure that I show case my talent (Williamson and Wendy 2008, p.261). This will be a good chance to show the kind of songs people in my country sing demonstrating the moral lessons attached to the songs. Basically studying in the United States will provide a great opportunity for me to learn cultures of other people and also represent my own self and culture so that it may be appreciated as well.
