“Communication is an art, not a science. It encompasses inconsistencies, interpretations, and emotional variables, and is greatly influenced by every individual’s unique frame of reference and life experience. All communication, whether delivered or received, is processed through our internal belief system, a mechanism that is commonly called our “filter”. Communication is always influenced by the overwhelming internal belief of being right: “The things I say are truthful and accurate. I am right” (Kioski: 2009).
On the average, about 70 % of our time is spent on communication - verbal or nonverbal. Effective communications are necessary for the maintenance of delivery of the received messages, to interpret and take corresponding measures. An effective communication is a key to the achievement of the personal and professional goals. Understanding the laws which are the grounds for any interaction people can easily influence the productivity of the interpersonal interaction; receive the necessary information from it.
There is an interaction of people with each other in the nursing process. People share new ideas, suggestions, opinions, representations, knowledge, and different information. Hence, a communicative process is the process of information exchange. Communication can be considered as an exchange of the necessary information. Being based on the communicative process, a person receives the information which is used for the acceptance of the effective decisions. However, the decisions can be erroneous and it is the sign of poorly established communications. It can be reflected in the interpersonal relations in a team. The quality of the accepted decisions defines the efficiency of communications.
Communications play an important role everywhere. People should be able to communicate in order to work together, to understand each other, to reach the goals. The strategy of training to skills on settlements of conflicts and the solution of problems are in details developed and help to overcome disagreements in case of their occurrence. The strategy of the solution of problems or conflicts has accurately outlined two stages: definition of a problem and a solution of a problem. At the first stage the problem or a question at issue is defined in the form of definite deeds.
The concept of effective communications is widely used in social psychology and management, as well as in the other areas of scientific knowledge and practical activities. The ability of partners to hear and understand each other in dialogue, to establish and keep emotional contact, to influence the behavior of the interlocutor with this concept are very important.
Knowledge and skills of effective communications are necessary for a wide range of experts of a various profile: managers, lawyers and sociologists, businessmen and economists, psychologists and teachers; this knowledge is necessary for everybody who deals with people. In various situations of daily and business dialogue this knowledge will help to avoid stresses, to solve questions at issue and to settle conflicts.
