There is no doubt that block play is an important element of a creative curriculum that stimulates overall development of children. I noticed that children like wooden blocks and enjoy activities with them which is another factor determining positive value of block play. In the play under observation, children first carried blocks to the play area, then piled them and made necessary roads, and created necessary structure and constructions. In general, it was a fascinating activity that resulted in a productive development.

Children were discussing boundaries of their structures and offering each other blocks for use that indicates that a a social/emotional development took place. The mentioned interaction is extremely important because it helps children to engage successfully in cooperation with others according to the established rules. Children were balancing blocks and placed figures of animals on some floors of their structures that stimulated a physical development associated with better control of muscles and usage of the available tools. Children managed to sort blocks according to their shapes and sizes, verbally expressed intention to include animals in their constructions and named the particular parts of their constructions. It shows that cognitive development took place that is connected with improvement of cause and effect relations understanding, better awareness of position in space and other peculiarities. Besides, it is extremely important that children were continuously discussing with each other various aspects of building during the block play. Hence, this play also stimulated their language development and resulted in better usage of words in conversation and active participation in conversation.
