The increase in tightening grounds of economic status, political discord and war rips the realization of the American dream. However, there is still some hope regardless of the redefinition of the dream as it was in the past. The past decade has experienced massive redefinition of the American dream and character. Only a few Americans still believe in the existence of the American dream in the modern times as compared to the number, which believed in the American dream before the Great Recession period (Wyatt-Nichol 258-279). Currently, most Americans claim that the meaning of the American dream has changes and holds a different meaning from what it was in the past. What catches the attention of people in the modern world is the economic decline despite the former hope of a better America from the promise of the American dream. However, when taking a deep look into the matter, the modern American has no clear idea regarding what the American dream meant for the nation.

There have been significant implications for most people who have no clear idea as regards the meaning of the American dream. Many people had the notion that the American Dream held an economical success notion with it, which held the possibility of acquisition of big houses, goods, homes and many more financial benefits. These were people, who were traditionally materialists and attached any projection of a good future to a financial gain and attachment. Another group of people believed in gaining of legacies while another group still has belief in the American Dream but feels that it is unachievable in this era or that of their children. Another group has no belief and existence of the dream. This is the group containing minorities like the poor and single mothers (Zakaria 12).

It is obvious that very few people have an understanding of the true meaning of the American Dream. That has led to the multiplicities of transformation on the issue who live their lives full of anxiety. The modern world has no clear idea of their positioning within the American Dream. There are those who on paying high taxes have the assumption of the incorporation of governmental concerns such as government costs, health and healthcare provisions. People pay higher costs of sustenance with the thought that they are supporting the poor and complaints that it is a disproportionate bid for enjoyed by the richer people. In the modern America, people are shifting their priorities focusing on aspects of their immediate benefit in the fear of losing ground (Zakaria 12).

Some Americans also feel that there is no more to achieve economically and are getting contented with what they have gained in the past. They are slowly accepting the fact that they may never realize the true essence of the American Dream and concede to anything they have now. It is also evident in those who feel that the innovations of the modern world are not effective for the achievement of different economic or personal changes. …
