Exploration of human body has always worried the most prominent minds. The structure of this fascinating complex physiological unit is till a wonder to numerous individuals, as variety of things and information about it is still not entirely available and requires further research. In order to make it easier to study the human body, seven organizational approaches were created with time. Each one is significant in comprehending the interconnected and vital systems that are performing their functions in the human body. These seven approaches include: body planes and body direction, cavities of the body, division into quadrants and regions, physiology, microscopic-to-macroscopic, anatomy, body systems, and medical specialty. Just as these approaches can be used for better understanding of the structure of the human body, it can also be applied to practice in the industry of health care system.
The approach involving the directions and planes involves division of the body into sections from front to back, from right to left, and from top to the very bottom with the utilization of midsaggital, coronal, and the transverse plane. This approach is very helpful when identifying the location of a certain occurrence in the body. In different cases this approach comes in handy as it reveals the exact location of the pathological process, when analyzing CAT scans that expose the cross sectional views of the bodily tissues. Understanding the plane of a particular image it is easier to identify such conditions as clots, kidney disease, cancer, and so on.
The approach of body cavities involves division of the body into sections and compartments that assist in determining a specific location for the organ in the body. This is rather useful when studying a particular organ, for example, brain in the cranial cavity, or the gastrointestinal system that is taking up the space of abdominopelvic one. This approach can also be utilized when researching the way a certain disease influences the body.
Approach of regions and quadrants involves identification of the location of inner organs in relation to the division of the torso are into 4 quadrants and 9 regional areas. This is mostly used in cases of physical examinations, identifying the area that directly requires diagnostic procedures like X-ray, CAT scan, ultrasound, and so on.
The anatomy and physiology organizational approach has to with identifying the structures and their functions. This is a great method when educating a patient about his own body, its parts and elements, systems and organs and their adequate functions in comparison with his condition.
The microscopic-to-macroscopic one includes the learning about the smallest parts of the body that may involve studying tissues, cells, their interactions and functioning and so on. This is used to study how a specific condition influences the body on different levels of organization.
The approach of body systems and planes studies various organs and their functioning as an integral complete unit that is the human body, which is a necessary approach to when we desire to describe the way people reproduce, circulatory system and its functions, breathing, …
