Personal Statement for Computer Science Transfer Applicants

Computer Science personal statementI wish to submit my interest to pursue computer science in this institution. I was immensely interested in computing at an early age. This is thanks to my dad who introduced me to computers in his place of work. I developed and interest and a feeling of wanting to know more about computers such as how they worked their capabilities and why they functioned that way. When my parents noticed my interest in computers, they encouraged and supported me, by buying me a computer. This was the best gift that I had ever received until this day. The fascinating nature of computers, its modernity and tremendous challenges has made me choose to pursue a career in computer science with exceptional ease. The power of the internet and information technology is extremely dynamic and so is my passion and interest in computing. The computer ideology and innovation is advancing at a significant rate and Computers are today the most influential tool and will continue to be even in the future. I want to be a fraction of this stimulating industry and in specific software engineering. This is because computers require software thus experts will be required to code and write programs such as Microsoft Access and games. My ultimate goal is to be part of a team that creates competent, useful and effective software for consumers. The engineering course will be my platform and key to my success; therefore, I am willing to work at it. The subjects I chose have developed my understanding and knowledge of computers. For instance, physics has helped me comprehend the working of different parts of the computer and functions. In addition, chemistry has helped improve my evaluation and analytical skills. My physics teacher was also interested in computer science and helped me nature my interest by lending me books, journals and articles such as ‘Wuthering heights’ by Emily Bronte and an Eternal Golden Braid. The measure has accorded me an in depth knowledge into computer science.I am hardworking, diligent, goal oriented, and this has helped expand my interest away from the classroom and in the business world. The knowledge I have gained over the years has helped set up a computer related business. This has totally changed my perception on business operations. For starters, coming up with a business plan was an alien experience but as months past I did extensive research and planned and eventually completed the plan. This was extremely rewarding and satisfying since I never thought I would be successful. I have learnt a lot through setting up and running the company. These include the importance of teamwork, delegation of tasks, balancing of tasks and delivery of services effectively. Apart from studying and running the business, relaxing is also essential.
