Team sports are very much valued by modern society. Soccer, basketball, American football national and world championships are great events that are visited and watched by many people around the world. The fact that it corresponds to reality is beyond any possible doubts. Team games are exiting and interesting to play but at the same time they are much more difficult to succeed than those, where individual score is counted. When you are a part of a team you share not only victories, but duties and responsibilities as well. In an experienced team every player has his/ her own role, and if all the players are in place, the team almost always wins. Cooperation and support inside the team are not less important than constant trainings. To provide a proper team work coaches and team members create playing schemes that look like a sequence of actions that are to be done is some particular situations.There is a great variety of schemes, which differ from each other according to a number of criteria that include the type of sport, the number of players, the level of team experience and skills, and other things. Yet, speaking in general all of the techniques belong to two major groups: those that are based on defence;those that are based on attack. One should not perceive the sense of technique only on “single word level”; if the team uses defensive way of play, it does not automatically mean, it is weaker than the opponent team. At the same time if the team plays aggressively, it does not mean they will celebrate the victory. Both methods of play conduct can be successful, if to use them right. Let’s take for example basketball, one of the most popular team sports in the USA. If the team prefers to play in attack, the key elements of their strategy are individual tactics principles and team attack tactics. The most frequently used elements of such an approach are handoff and ball serve. If to speak about defensive method, it has a similar structure, as it also includes individual and team actions but has different key elements, which are ball return and block. Usually every team has its leading player who receives the greatest number of points. The rest of the team supports him, creates situations, when that player gets a chance to receive some more points. This tactics can be regarded as an attack. At the same time when several team members try to block the leader of another team and prevent him from reaching a basket, it can be called a defensive method of play.As for American football it is considered to be a very aggressive play, but still it is possible to distinguish defence and attack tactics here.
