Thesis:

According to Confucius, a strong-minded scientist and a good man will not use their virtue for their own sake. Their morality is such that a man will rather risk his life in order to preserve his virtue full. Reasons: Good virtue stands higher than his life to the owner of this virtue, so he would never go as far as to break this virtue or lessen it. A determined scientist and the man of virtue will never use their virtue to satisfy their other needs, because it is their virtue which becomes their sense of living. Analysis: Confucius’s argument is correct in a sense. Any virtue play very important if not crucial role in one’s life. Some people are ready to scarify their lives to save their virtue complete. However, there are different people in the world and some of them are valuing material things more than morality or virtues. So, such people will not scarify their life to save their virtue from becoming incomplete. Also, they would even live at the expense of their virtue if such a thing is possible. Confucius had somewhat idealistic thinking and viewed society as ideal union of humans. Therefore, his passage is also about ideal people, men of virtue, who are ready to scarify their life in the sake of their virtue in order to preserve it …
