Causation of the US Civil War is one of the most discussed issues among the historians of all over the world. The war which lasted 4 short, but bloody years and has taken away approximately 487 thousand both confederates and the North. Therefore, the question arises: why citizens of one state have been cruelly killing each other for 4 years?

It is a generally known fact that there is no one specific reason for any important historical event, moreover such influential and grand as a civil war. That is why an author would like to divide causes of the Civil War into three groups (each of them contributed the causation of the Civil War):

Economic causes;

Political causes;

Social causes;

What about economic causes, they are considered to be the most significant among those three groups. First of all, in the middle of 19th century, there was a great difference in economic environment between North and South: when in 1793 the cotton gin was invented it became very profitable to cultivate cotton. Great territories of plantations on the South made the planters one of the richest people of the USA. To the contrary, climate on the North was not suitable for growing cotton and was based on industry rather than on agriculture. On the South there were a few big cities, as being a planter foresees living in the rural area. In spite of the South, there were lots of cities on the North, which were as well industrial centers.
