The most impressive and bloodiest play Macbeth by Shakespeare presents us a story of a Scottish tan who turns into a tyrant after becoming a king. His ambitions and obsessions of power are direct consequences of the “truths” predicted by three witches. In my opinion, his weak character would not allow him to commit those crimes without the influence of witches’ prophecies in which Macbeth strongly and doubtlessly believes.

The beginning of the play shows us a very talented and skilled warrior who is able to receive victory over enemies without visible efforts. That is why king Duncan decides that Macbeth should be given a title of Cawdor’s tan for his service to the country. Three witches actually use this episode in order to convince Macbeth of the rightness of their words. Macbeth does not know about this title yet, and thus, he becomes so astonished when actually the prophecy of witches comes true. All further deaths, after Macbeth kills the king, are made for his security. In addition, in such a way he tries to get rid of guilt he is living with. His initial ambition is only slightly seen when Banquo is killed – Macbeth does not want that Banqou’s children sit upon the throne, according to the prediction of three witches. However, I think that he is also afraid of Banquo who witnessed the prophecy of the witches. Thus, Banquo can make everything out and accuse Macbeth of killing the king in order to gain power. Macbeth’s cowardly spirit is constantly alarmed and concerned about his future, and that is why he visits three witches for the second time. The second prophecy makes him believe that he cannot be defeated which makes him become a real tyrant.

These proves of the weakness of his character clearly demonstrate that he became possessed under the influence of prediction, Lady Macbeth and his fears. I believe that Macbeth would not …
